Korean students confuse the two words: trip and travel. These are one of the most confusing words to use for korean students.  Part of the difference between the two is usage: trip is used when it is a short-term leave, whereas travel is used when it is a long-term leave. These two words have also some different meaning. Trip is used when people commute to their work. To find out the meaning difference, I examined KWIC concordance lines from The Corpus of Contemporary American English (Davies, 2008-). It reveals typical phrases what I look for
A sort to the right shows that “to” usually comes after trip and travel for both. The most common phrase including trip was trip to.  Similarly, some tokens of trip showed up in the phrase “ trip over or trip on” These means also similar to the meaning of trip to. It means going on a short-term leave. The most common phrase including travel was also travel to. It means going on a long-term leave.
There are more informations for Korean students. In my opinion, if they use this program properly, it would be very helpful for the students. The students would use travel and trip without confusion.

Private education

Introduction

Private education always has been a controversial. Some people think private education is necessary and some people think not. There are cons and pros. Especially, the Korean education, private education caused controversy. From the survey, we might see and learn some about the private education.

Method
In order to find out the respondent background, the survey has 3 types of questions. The survey asked about their age, gender, and grade. It  has some specific questions about private education to find out their own opinions.

Results
The result of the survey was obvious. The respondents prefer school and tutoring for their English education. A respondent who prefer school said the school provides more various subjects. The other respondent said that tutoring has much more opportunity to interact with a teacher.

Most of the respondents responded that the private education and school are all effective method for English education while academy was little bit helpful. 3 people responded that the private education should be legal while 1 people did not agree on it.

There are benefits of private education. 2 respondents chose high quality of education and the other 2 respondents picked on advanced education. There are also disadvantages of private education. High fee is the number one problem and stress with devaluation of public education comes next.

Conclusion

In conclusion, private education is needed for students who do not have ability to follow the school education. It is much more direct method of education. It is going to help the students effectively. The best way to improve the students’ English would be to have appropriate English education for each one of the students.

EEE week 6

“Fire and ice” is one of the most popular poems in the world. I chose this poem to my blog, because it is simple yet powerful. Some of my classmates chose this poem to post on their own blogs. According to their blogs, the poem has good metaphor to learn and the level of the poem is appropriate to high school students.
Junghyun Kim points out that this poem’s metaphor is the best feature of the poem. She said that the “fire” and “ice” is metaphor for human’s desire and hate. (Kim 2014.10.20) The poem gives a lecture to students that the physical sin could be very dangerous. Jungrae kim said that the poem is not too long and the vocabulary is not too difficult for high school students. He writes, “Students could study poem with tranquil heart.” (Kim 2014.10.20) It means the high school students can learn the poem with unstressed mind.
In summary, the poem has good reasons to teach high school students. My classmates have good defense of using “Fire and ice” for highschool students. The poem has metaphor to learn and the vocabulary is not too difficult to learn.

In my opinion, “Fire and Ice” is the most suitable poem  to teach for high school students among “To chinese grandmother”, “The red hat” and “ “To a daughter leaving home”. This poem is one of the most well known poem in the world. It has messages. It has some challenging vocabulary for high school students to learn. Students also can learn about how American poem is written.
In the poem “Fire and Ice”, there is a message. The poem is using metaphor. This makes the poem more effective and strong. In the poem, “Fire” means desire and “Ice” means hate. The writer tells both are great but both are also dangerous. Desire could be good things and dangerous things.  People could have desire for their dream. People also could have desire for physical satisfaction. For the “hate” it is powerful. People should be careful on ice which is means hate.
Students can learn language from the poem. The poem is simple and short so that the high school students can focus and learn better. American poem is not familiar with high school students so it is better be simple and easy like the poem. There are also some challenging vocabulary to learn for high school students. This poem is going to help students to understand American literature and English at the same time.
There are reasons for this poem to be most famous, even though it is simple and short. I take the well known saying “simple is the best”. It is short yet powerful. The writer expresses exactly what he/she want to tell people. It has hidden strong messages which are good for high school students to learn for their lives.
